My goals from last week were to get up at 6 AM each morning, complete my morning routine each day and weekly tasks for the week, and to work on getting the catch-all room in order.

So, how did I do?  Well, I only got up at 6 on Monday.  After that, it was in the 6:30 to 7:30 range.  I did ok completing my morning routines, but not so good on completing my weekly tasks.  I was able to work on the catch-all room some.

One fun thing I did on Wednesday which helped me a lot was to play "7-minute Musical Tasks."  I had several things I needed to get done (but really didn't want to do) and a couple of things that I wanted to get done.  I set my timer for 7 minutes and worked on emptying the dishwasher.  I finished just as the timer rang.  I reset it for 7 minutes and worked on filing articles (more about that below).  Then I worked on putting dishes in the sink into the dishwasher and cleaning up the kitchen.  Then 7 more minutes filing articles.  I did probably a dozen 7-minute rounds while Gracie was taking a nice, long nap, and I really got a lot done.

I do not subscribe to very many magazines, but those I do subscribe to and those I buy off the rack (which is seldom these days), I like to save articles for future reference.

One particular favorite magazine is Family Fun which is now put out by Disney.  I first came across this magazine in a dentist's office when I lived in Indiana.  I was immediately enthralled with all the fun activities and tips and tricks.  I decided that when the time came that I would have a child, I would begin subscribing to this magazine.  I still love the magazine, and tear out probably close to half of the magazine out when saving articles.  I've given subscriptions as gifts to other moms with young children.

Over time, my stack of articles has grown.....

I had them in a plastic drawer waiting to be filed.  This week, I was determined to get them filed.

I purchased a file box -- which I am going to call "The Fun Box" since I will keep all of the fun activities for children in it -- and began penciling in categories on file folders to go inside.

Most of the labels begin with F/A: which stands for "Family Activities" and is further divided according to season or holiday (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter; Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Valentine's Day).  I also have categories for Anytime activities, Games, Books, Toys, Travel Ideas, Recipes, Parenting Ideas, Party Ideas, and Miscellaneous Tips.  I subdivided most of these categories according to age:  babies, toddlers (roughly 12-36 months), preschoolers (roughly 3-5 years), primary (roughly 5-8), and juniors (roughly 9-12).  I don't have a category for teenagers.  I figure by that time they will have learned handiwork skills and can find ideas of their own.

I stayed up late one night working on about half of the articles, and was able to finish them the next day during my 7 Minute Musical Tasks.  I still have a stack of magazines (about a dozen or so) that I need to go through and cull articles from.  Then I will just need to keep up with future publications.

I do still need to go through certain categories, such as Christmas, Party Ideas, and organize the material in there.  For right now, the articles are stuffed in no particular order.

I wouldn't say the week was a total success, but I feel like improvement was made.

My goals for this next week will be the same since I haven't mastered them all yet.
