This Week at the Library -- August 29, 2011

Here's a look in our library bookbag:

Gracie's Books:

Fuzzy Bear's Potty Book
Gracie sat through this one with Robert, but hasn't shown any interest in it with me.  It's kinda cute, but I've read better potty books.

Happy Baby Animals by Jo Douglas
This is a great little book with "real" pictures of animals.  It gives certain facts about the animals and reviews colors and animal sounds.  Gracie has not sat through the whole thing with me, but she does enjoy the book.

Spot: My Day at Home by Eric Hill
This is a cute little book that shows pictures of Spot during the highlights of his day.  Gracie will sit through this one with me.

Cooper's New Friend
This is a book with a good character lesson.  Gracie hasn't sat through the whole thing with me, however.

On the Farm by Sue King
All three of us like this book!  You can tilt the book and see the pictures "move."  For example, one of the eggs on the front of the book will show a chick hatching out.

Spot: My Animal Friends by Eric Hill
I didn't get a picture of this one.  It's just like the other Spot book, just has pictures of different animals.  Gracie likes this book.

Let There Be Lights by Camille Kress
This is a Hanukkah book.  I haven't read it with Gracie yet.

Train by Jane Brett
Gracie loves this book!  She loves turning the wheels on the bottom.  I showed her how to move the book to pretend like it's moving.  Some time ago, I bought a wooden "train whistle" at Walmart when it was on sale for half off.  I like to use that whistle as sound effects for this book.  Gracie enjoys that!

Find the Duck by Stephen Cartwright
This book hasn't really captured Gracie's attention.

Ava's Books:

A Simple Guide to Digital Photography by Bill Corbett
I haven't looked at it yet.

The Handbook of Digital Photography by Geoffrey Hands
I haven't looked at this one yet, either.

How to Start a Home-Based Photography Business by Kenneth Oberrecht
Nor this one.

Robert went to Barnes & Noble so he could do some reading in peace, and came home with a book for me!

Nikon D7000 for Dummies by Julie Adair King
I have read the first chapter and have already learned a couple of good things.

Guess what I'm getting for Christmas?  :-D

Neat Typo of the Day:  Do <option, s> to make a Beta: ß  (For Macs)

  1. You're such a good mom!! :) Gracie is blessed to have a mom who loves to read! I need to read to my kids more. It's easy for me to get busy or be tired! lol!

  2. Oh, I know what you mean! I'm thankful that Robert will read with her and that she likes to "read" to herself. I don't read with her as much as I think I should or want to. I've been tempted to hide some books because I'm tired of reading them over and over! It'll be worth it, though, if she continues to love reading throughout her life.

  3. How *exciting* that you will be getting a new camera for Christmas!! You are wise to educate yourself on it's features before you receive it. When you unwrap that special package you will know just how to make use of it! I really need to study digital photography a bit more. My camera frustrates me sometimes. I just can't seem to get the lighting right.

I absolutely loved to read when I was a little girl, and all your books look so wonderful. I hope your little ones will enjoy them.

  4. Miss Linda, lighting is my #1 trouble spot in photography! It's fun learning about photography. I hope to greatly improve my skills over the next few weeks/months.
